So let’s start, every week I will be doing a piece on the usual stuff that get us men, hot and bothered,Sport Cars, Tech, watches and …yes t@# but I possibly can’t write it due to the risk of second circumsision if Mrs J ever reads this . Instead of becoming the next asian version of John Bobbit, lets begin this week on three reasonably price cars that make sense but you probably will never buy and I will explain why later. And I will try to break into sections first up something Sporty something for Family and one for your mate Dave we all have or no a Dave in our circle of friends so while look at 0-60 times and Alloy’s, Dave will want a sensible MPG a good residual value yah dah yah dah….Now you know who Dave is .
Your 30 odd doing ok and want a statement car, now your a sneaky type you want the whole world to know your doing well but same time you want to well play down it a notch so BMW M3 really not going to cut it with you, you want the ooomph but not the total look at me kind of car, plus you still haven’t had it way with Lucy in accounts at the Christmas party, you roll up in M3 and that old saying of the car is extension of your man hood, well you might as well forget it son! So here is the plan, get something fast get something a bit lairy but discretion is name of the game. So with that in mind here it drum roll please…..KIA but before you all hit the back button your browsers this no ordinary KIA, see our Korean friends have learnt a lot about us European people this ones first all properly built for us and it looks like something the Germans would build ….nie nie ok agreed some parts little plasticky but overall damn good as I will explain
Price these things are £40k ish, a lot for Kia even for one that gets you 0-60 in 4.7secs but really would you buy a brand new car, not if you have a brain cell or two, you would buy used and at used these 3.3 V6 engined monsters are £25k or so for low mileage one and if you have had Lucy from accounts already you can buy it in a bright yellow, spec wise all come with nearly everything Harmon Kardon stereo, climate control, heated and cooled seats plus 360 camera the interior in my humble opinion is spot on and yes like I said certain parts is a little plasticky but overall for first attempt really nice. Back to the M3, pub fact for you it’s designed by a old boy called Albert Bierman, who’s CV probably points out he used to run BMW M division …But your still not sold are you, and like most of us it’s that little bit of insecruity we all have what will the neighbours say what will my mates say and that’s probably why you won’t see many but for that’s perfect reason to buy one…now Mrs J please note Lisa in accounts is for writing purposes I have never known a Lisa at all……
Ok your like me you remember Adam and the Ant’s music wise , Beadles about tv programme ..and Michael Jackson as black before he became white and probably wrote a letter at some point to sit on Jimmy Saviles knee….luckily for me my english writing at that point was very poor so luckily my letter got binned ! But my point is your probably mid 40’s late 40’s family car what’s your choice, let’s be honest Audi RS6 end of any car argument it’s big enough for family it’s fast as a modern supercar..but pushing on £80k -90k it’s out of reach for most of us so what’s a alternative something fast big enough for the family but has still street cred to say your not quite in your 50s yet . Let me give you the Audi’s little cuz that probaly gets invites to all the family do’s but rarely get’s noticed , you guessed it I am talking about a Seat, or more to point the Seat Leon Cupra FR300 available in auto only but that’s not a bad thing and you can get the option of 4×4, lets be honest it’s a stripped down RS3 or Golf R both names that give most car nuts a semi…but not as a Seat which is unfair as it’s pretty much same car same fit and finish and it’s quick nearly 300BHP hence the name with 0-62 in around 4.7 now here is the thing brand new £3O-34k used say 19 plate about £23 ok it’s no RS6 but it’s useable its fast and discreet great choice .
Ok lastily promised to keep our Dave happy remember Dave likes MPG costs road tax costs, basicily that mate we all have but no idea how or when we met him ! Ok Dave me pal this will get you reaching for your cleanest beige chinos and finding your local garage begging for sneaky little test drive . Now it’s a tough one there’s a few I could list here but it has to be the Dacia Duster for anywhere between 11k and under 20K your going to get a brand new car, now I know what your thinking you have seen Top Gear the Grand tour all rate it, but did you know that the engine it’s the same one in the Mercedes A Class, Renault Kadjar and the Qashqai, if your in market for second car this is great option.
